Index. This displays the index, allowing you to browse the disc at random. This disc contains two indexes, one arranged alphabetically, and another arranged chronologically.

TrailSave. This displays the TrailSave selection screen, where you can edit and view 'Trails' of interesting slides.

Add to Trail. This allows the current slide to be quickly added to end of the current Trail.

Copy. This allows export of currently viewed pictures and text to the clipboard or to disk.

The time bar shows the time bands into which the video is divided. Clicking on a time band takes you to the relevant piece of video.

Clicking the Investigate button displays a summary of the current time band, from which more detailed information can be accessed.

Play. Starts playing the video.

Pause. Pauses the video. Repeated clicking advances video frame by frame.
@
Rewind. Rewinds the video whilst held down.
@
Fast Forward. Rapidly advances the video whilst held down.
@
Start. Rewinds video to beginning.

Mute. Toggles sound on or off.
@
Expand. Toggles between normal and maximised size video.

The time bar shows the time bands into which the current video is divided. Clicking on a time band displays a summary of the major events of that period.

Summary. Displays the summary screen you are currently viewing.

Summary. Displays a summary of the main events in the current time band.

Themes. Displays a list of themes relevant to the current time band. (A theme is large topic which is relevant throughout World War II). If you select a theme you will be taken to the slide (picture and text) within that theme which is most relevant to the current time band.

Events. Displays a list of events relevant to the current time band. If you select an event you will be taken to the slide (picture and text) within that event which is most relevant to the current time band.

Biographies. Displays a list of biographies relevant to the current time band. If you select a biography you will be taken to the slide (picture and text) within that biography which is most relevant to the current time band.

The time bar shows the time bands into which the current video is divided. The yellow bars show the relevance of the current theme, biography or event. You can only click on the time bands covered by the yellow bar. Clicking on one of these time bands displays the slide relevant to that time band.

Previous/Next Slide. These buttons display the previous or next slide of the current event, theme or biography.
@
Select. Clicking this allows any slide in the current topic to be selected.
@
Enlarge Picture. Displays an larger version of the current picture, allowing the picture to be viewed in greater detail. A caption is also accessible from the large picture, offering you further information.

Enlarge Text. Displays enlarged text for easier reading.
@
Other Pictures. When available, this icon displays a list of other pictures relevant to the current slide. Select a title, and that picture will take the place of the first image. The new picture can then also be enlarged.

Audio. When available, this icon plays an audio track. Whilst the audio is playing, pressing this icon again will turn it off. Information on the audio track can be found at the end of the slide text.

Animation. When available, this displays an animation. The maps section contains several animations detailing campaigns and battles.
@
Menu. Pressing this steps back up the Maps section one level.
@
Maps. Displays a the list of available maps, allowing them to be viewed in any order.
@
Events. Lists the events covered by the Maps section. Selecting one will take you to further information on that event.
@
Countries. Lists the countries covered by the Maps section. Selecting one will take you to further information on that country.
@
Country map pin. Displays detailed information about the labelled country.
@
Event map pin. Displays detailed information about the labelled event.

Select Overview. Buttons like these display a short overview of a particular section of the disc.

Alphabetical Index. Pressing this selects a conventional, alphabetically arranged index.

Chronological Index. Pressing this selects a chronologically arranged index, which is sub-divided geographically.

Heading entry. Selecting a heading entry causes sub-entries to be displayed in the following column.

Slide entry. Selecting a slide entry allows that slide to be viewed, by pressing 'Go to', or added to the current trail with 'TrailSave Plus'.

Move Slide. Pressing this allows the selected slide to be moved. Simply point to the new position in the list and click.

Delete Slide. Removes the selected slide from the Trail.

Clear. Clears the entire Trail.

Load. Retrieves a previously saved Trail from disk.

Save. Saves the current Trail to disk for later use.

View. View the current Trail, starting at the selected slide.
